Catherine Deneuve's fifth collaboration with André Téchiné - which screened at both the Berlin and Cannes film festivals this year - also reunites her with Gerard Depardieu, subtly enriching the emotional texture of Téchiné's film.
The director's preoccupation is with the effect of time on the inner lives of his main characters: Cécile (Deneuve), a mature woman married to a younger man and wearied by restlessness and self-doubt, and Antoine (Depardieu), an outwardly successful man who for more than thirty years has nurtured his private devotion to Cécile.
"A provocative meditation on what changing times can do to relationships, cultures, cities, and love itself"
