Le vent de la nuit is about "a woman at the end of her marriage and the peak of her beauty".
Garrel, the most enigmatic of filmmakers for whom the legacy of May '68 continues to reverberate artistically, is suitably elliptical in describing his film about an older woman (Deneuve) prepared to humiliate herself in order to hold on to her much younger lover, Paul.
He in turn befriends an older artist (of Garrel's own ilk), with whom he sets off on a road trip of indeterminate end.
John Cale composed the film's score.
