Ode
Ode takes its narrative cue from the legendary Bobby Gentry song 'Ode To Billy Joe'.
Updating the enigmatic musical tale for a modern-day setting, Reichardt's film follows two young lovers forced to navigate contemporary adolescent desire within the confines of a strict Southern Baptist society.
Scored by Paul Oldham (Palace Brothers, Bonnie Prince Billy) and shot with a two-person crew, Reichardt's free-form Super-8 featurette was described by the director as one of her best filmmaking experiences.
