X-Men
X-Men (another winner from the Marvel Comics empire) posits a future where mutants emerge (born with an X-Factor added to their genetic code that enables wide-ranging powers of the 'super' variety) as the next evolutionary step for humanity.

Restrained and introspective, X-Men explores themes of diversity, tolerance, and exclusivity.

Directed with great flair by Bryan Singer (The Usual Suspects), two mutants Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) and Rogue (Anna Paquin) come to a private academy whose resident superhero team (including Cyclops, Dr Jean Grey and Halle Berry as Storm) oppose a powerful mutant terrorist organisation led by Magneto (Ian McKellen).
