State of Play
Discover where the gaming industry is heading with a host of key Australian game industry figures, including Rob Murray (Firemint), Steve Fawkner (software designer, programmer and composer), Tony Reed (GDAA) and Laura Parker (journalist, GameSpot). Joining us via Skype will be Nathan Vella (Co-Founder and President of Capybara Games) and Daniel Cook (game designer and Chief Creative Officer of Spry Fox). Chaired by Brad Giblin (Film Victoria).

Beyond Sloganism
New opportunities are claimed as the local and worldwide development industry changes, but do these possibilities really exist or are they just re-branded visions of what has come before? Panel includes Justin Brow (Expedition Leader 60Sox), Marigo Raftopoulos (Strategic Games Lab) and Morgan Jaffit (Defiant Development). Chaired by David Surman (Pachinko Pictures).

Games & Cultural Spaces
Explore the challenges of creating a cultural framework for exhibiting and programming videogames, and the role of institutions and festivals in showcasing and defining the cannon of the gaming industry. Panel includes Conrad Bodman (ACMI), Paul Callaghan (Freeplay), Linda Pitt (State Library of QLD) and Ricardo Peach (Australia Council's Inter-Arts). Chaired by freelance games writer, Leena van Deventer.

Flexing the Story Muscle
Tim Schafer (Founder and Director of Double Fine Productions) will explore the importance of story in games, providing insights into his creative process and leadership. Facilitated by Paul Callaghan (Freeplay).

Creativity & Commerce
Following the phenomenal success of Double Fine's Kick Starter platform, this session will explore a range of models that developers and distributors are investigating to creatively produce games. Panel includes Tim Schafer (Double Fine Productions), Phil Larsen (Halfbrick), David Surman and Ian Gouldstone (Pachinko Pictures) and Scott Reismanis (Desura/Indie Royale). Chaired by writer and academic, Dan Golding.

The Australian Story
This session will explore the cultural, historical and creative factors surrounding Australian mythology and will provoke discussion about its relevance and possible future directions. Panel includes John Passfield (Red Sprite Studios), Matthew Hall (KlickTock), Tony Lay (EA Mobile/IronMonkey Studios) and Steve Fawkner (software designer, programmer and composer). Chaired by curator and academic, Helen Stuckey.

The Collectors
Cultural institutions have a responsibility to collect and preserve videogames for future access. This session will explore the issues institutions face regarding the role of collecting content. Panel includes curator and academic Helen Stuckey, Susan Corbett (Victoria University, NZ), Warren Spector (Disney Interactive) and Dr. Winfried Bergmeyer (Berlin Computerspielemuseum). Chaired by Dr Melanie Swalwell (Flinders University).
