With computer game characters now as identifiable as those from film and literature, Sonic The Hedgehog is not simply a household name - he is a contemporary icon.

Born in 1991 for Sega's super-fast Sega Mega Drive game console, Sonic The Hedgehog made a speedy dash to success and stardom.

And Sonic shows no signs of slowing. In June 2005, Sonic turned 14, a luminary in an industry that is just over thirty years old.

As well as tracking the development of this legendary character, the latest selection in Games Lab lets you experience the evolution of game technology over the past decade, from simple 2D 'side scrollers' to intricate 3D worlds.

Games include Sonic The Hedgehog, Sonic The Hedgehog 2, Sonic Spinball, Sonic The Hedgehog 3, Sonic & Knuckles, Sonic R, Sonic Adventure, and Sonic Heroes.
