Redefining the model of a modern action movie, the ongoing exploits of George Miller's rogue cop turned road warrior (Mel Gibson, developing his role as a grim, archetypal loner) set a new benchmark for Australian filmmaking.

Hyper-kinetic in its execution, Mad Max 2 saw vehicular mayhem and sensational stunt work shift into maximum overdrive.

Belonging to that rare breed of movie sequel that manages to expand and improve upon the events and themes established in the original, the film culminates in a sublimely shot and choreographed climactic chase sequence.

Tim Schafer's Full Throttle owes more than a passing nod to Miller's dystopian vision of the future.

The screening will be introduced by a specially recorded message from Tim Schafer.
