| Jim Henson with Kermit the Frog |
In the years before the international success of
Sesame Street and
The Muppet Show, Jim Henson tested the limits of US commercial television with stunning results.
Henson's pioneering infomercial for an IBM word processor is a blazing montage of sound and image.
The Cube explores the pop-existential absurdity of a man who hosts a constant stream of visitors in a room he's confoundingly unable to leave.
Also screening is a program curated especially for Australian audiences that features recently unearthed clips of Muppet TV appearances and other special surprises ranging from the 1950s to the 1980s.
Craig Shemin will introduce the screening on Saturday 6 September.
