Tear this Heart Out (Arráncame la vida)
Based on the novel of the same name by Ángeles Mastretta, Tear This Heart Out is a sumptuous period drama that became one of the most successful - and expensive - films in Mexican cinema history.
Set in post-revolution Mexico of the '30s and '40s, the film evokes the politics, love, murder and passion of the time.
It tells the story of the beautiful Catalina Guzmán (Ana Claudia Talancón), who marries an older, charismatic and cunning General (Daniel Giménez Cacho). Dazzled by his world, Catalina escorts him on his campaigns, observing the political system in order to further her social justice cause. She soon discovers that by dedicating her life to the General, she may lose her freedom.
