Soundtrack for a Revolution + Black Panthers

Direct from the 2009 Cannes Film Festival, this beautiful work tracks the spirit behind the US Civil Rights movement through the stories of its activists and the freedom songs that gave it such resilient strength and dignity.
Rare and gripping footage, triumphant tales and high fidelity musical performances make this a documentary of many hues.
Using the song titles as 'chapter headings' for each development in the movement, the film
moves through personal stories - their meaning underpinned by the songs themselves. Set against dramatic footage from the time, each 'chapter' is rounded by performances from some of contemporary music's great voices including John Legend, TV On The Radio, Joss Stone, Wyclef Jean, The Roots, Richie Havens, Mary Mary, Anthony Hamilton, and the Blind Boys of Alabama.
Moving from dynamic black and white archival footage to vibrant colour and with flowing cinematography, the work is constantly surprising and rewarding on all levels.
Executive Produced by Danny Glover,
Soundtrack for a Revolution is for lovers of documentary, lovers of music and lovers of truth - there's real power here.
