Director Pip Mushin introduces us to Josh Jarman
 |
| Maxine in Josh Jarman | Josh Jarman is the story of an ambitious, passionate and obsessive playwright!
Josh's dream is to get his play produced by a big time producer, in a big theatre. In the cutthroat world of theatre this is no easy feat. The fact that Josh's play is not what the industry perceives as marketable does not help.
But something happens to Josh - he gets a lucky break. However like most things in life, this break comes at a cost.
For Josh, the cost is high, as he finds out during his journey. Josh ultimately has to decide if the price he'll have to pay to get his play produced is ultimately worth it.
When Josh signs the production deal with Stan Billows he has no idea that he is about to sell his soul. At first Josh doesn't even know that his deal has come at a cost. Josh embraces his new life with gusto. He enjoys his new girlfriend, the nights out, the parties. But soon the reality of the situation catches up with him - the world that Josh had always dreamed of, was turning out to be something he'd never imagined.
This is when his relationship with Maxine begins to develop. Maxine represents everything that Josh has begun to lose - integrity, truth, stability, harmony. Josh is forced to confront the reality of his situation and, of course, he doesn't like what he sees.
Josh Jarman is about a guy who's on the verge of compromising every ideal he ever had. It is about a guy whose ambition and determination override the very fundamentals he believes in. However Josh Jarman is about much more. Josh Jarman is about friendship, loyalty, integrity, trust and of course, love. It is also about fun and along the way there is much to be had.
