Holy Rollers

Sam Gold, a young Hasid from Brooklyn, hooks up with a neighbourhood friend in order to earn some extra gelt by transporting life-saving medicines back from a weekend trip to Amsterdam.
However, what they are carrying is not medicine but ecstasy on behalf of an Israeli drug dealer. Already chafing against the strict rules of his faith, a father who doesn't value him and a rabbi who won't offer a blessing for his marital prospect, Sam is soon seduced by the allure of the secular world.
First premiered at the Sundance Film Festival,
Holy Rollers is based on real events that took place when an Israeli criminal gang employed Hasids to bring drugs into the United States. In the lead role, Jesse Eisenberg deftly displays the internal moral struggle of a young man torn between two cultures.
