A Room and a Half

Veteran Russian filmmaker Andrey Khrzhanovskiy's new feature is a masterpiece bursting with images from the life of Joseph Brodsky - poet and Nobel Laureate in Literature.
Brodsky, considered the greatest Russian poet of his time, was a liberal Jewish writer, expelled from his homeland in 1972, never to return.
Some of the most touching moments cover Brodsky's childhood, painting an intimate and cheerful portrait of a closely-knit and assimilated family who never lets their cramped living space, the penury of the lean years, or the escalating anti-Semitism sap their spirit.
Featuring archival footage, animation, live-action and fiction sequences, this glorious pageant of colour, motion and music is destined to become a touchstone of contemporary Jewish cinema.
