From Up on Poppy Hill

The latest film from Studio Ghibli (Spirited Away) and directed by Goro Miyazaki, son of the great Hayao, From Up on Poppy Hill is set in Yokohama a few months before the 1964 Olympic Games.

Despite being at school, teenager Umi shoulders much of the responsibility for her family's business. On top of this, she rounds up her fellow students to save the school's student accommodation from demolition.

The soundtrack for this lushly animated film draws on music of the time to create a sense of nostalgia and romance. Screens in an English-language version.
