The Wizard of Oz
Dorothy, played by a luminous seventeen-year-old Judy Garland, and her trusty dog, Toto, set off on the Yellow Brick Road bound for the Emerald City in Victor Fleming's glorious 1939 musical.
Caught in a tornado that propels her far from the safety and familiarity of her home in Kansas, Dorothy tests her mettle with the help of new friends Tin Man, Scarecrow and Lion in a quest to find the Wizard of Oz, all the while hoping she'll make it home in time for supper.
Legendary designer Adrian created thousands of costumes for this lavish MGM production, including Dorothy's gingham pinafore which can be viewed in the Hollywood Costume
exhibition. When the film was completed, Adrian concluded that this was by far the most enjoyable production he had ever worked on.
