Overlooking a bay in Roses, Catalonia, stands a charming and seemingly unpretentious restaurant: El Bulli.

Behind its unimposing walls, master chef, part-time scientist, alchemist, magician and artist Ferran AdriĆ  has earned his reputation as one of the most inventive creators of contemporary haute cuisine.

His brother, Albert, directed this documentary, which offers a fascinating insight into the miraculous processes behind the scenes of the place that has been regarded as the best restaurant in the world for the last five years.

A feast for the senses and the mind.

"No meals will be served in El Bulli in 2012 and 2013," said Adria on January 26, 2010. Gourmets all over the world are in mourning as those who reserved a table years in advance must now wait until doors reopen in 2014.

Prior to the screening of A Day at El Bulli, celebrate Spanish Cuisine and Film with a leisurely lunch of tapas and wine from 1.30pm at the La Mirada Lounge.
