A tale of forbidden passion and moral corruption starring an alluring Victoria Abril, this sophisticated drama features beautiful cinematography and Hitchcockian suspense.

Frustrated by his joblessness and his virginal fiancée's strict morality, Paco succumbs to Luisa's advances and the two soon begin a torrid love affair.

Set in Madrid in the 1950s, the film subtly alludes to the oppressive moral codes of Franco's Spain as its three protagonists are faced with seemingly impossible choices.

One of the most significicant films in Spanish cinema, Lovers earnt director Vicente Aranda extensive international exposure and critical acclaim.
