| Machinima Nothing But Red |
A full day workshop that introduces year 9 and 10 students to the craft of making movies using the visual and audio components of video games.
Young people today are constantly creating new and exciting uses for technology. Making machinima embraces this behaviour and is an excellent way to engage year 9 and 10 students whilst meeting many curriculum requirements.
Understanding and making machinima offers learning across the VELS Strands for Level 6 (Years 9 and 10). This program also supports and is of relevance to VCE English/Media, VCAL English and VET Multimedia.

The WorkshopThis machinima workshop is a full day session in Studio 2 at ACMI with a focus on utilising the students innovative abilities to create their own machinima.
The machinima movies are made utilising the game
The Movies. Students work in small teams to design characters, build sets and develop story lines with consideration of conventional Hollywood narrative structure.
The engaging session also includes a screening and discussion around the history and possibilities of machinima.
This program is designed to:
introduce students to the many machinima production processes through discussion and practical workshops
introduce students to, or extend their technical knowledge relating to moving image production
further develop student's media production and media analysis skills
build awareness of the possibilities that new technologies offer.
During this program students will:
view key examples of machinima
discuss the practicalities and possibilities of machinima
in pairs, develop, construct and edit a machinima piece.
All student work is compiled for teachers and students to take away for further viewing, analysis and enjoyment.
