Late Bit: take your Game Masters experience to the next level

Oscar + Martin play Late Bit: End Game

The Australian Centre for the Moving Image presents Late Bit, an opportunity to take the Game Masters exhibition experience to the next level on the last Thursday night of every month.

Made possible by the City of Melbourne's Late Night Activation program, Late Bit is a playful and eclectic program of live entertainment featuring games-inspired music and performances, game play and mingling. The free entry event is designed to complement the experience for Game Masters ticketholders from 6pm.

On Thursday 27 September Late Bit: Synth Pop! presents a line up of local synth masters that includes interdisciplinary musician Galapagoose, aka artist Trent Gill, who brings his distinctly DIY ethos and multilayered musical creations to a performance showcasing a unique blend of sampling, distorted vocals and bouncing synth. Also taking to the Late Bit stage will be DJ Zeal and Kikuyu, aka Sez Wilks, whose lo-fi performance mixes melodic harmonies with bright synth pop sounds.

The final Late Bit on Thursday 25 October - Late Bit: End Game - will see ACMI's popular exhibition go out with a bang. The synthy sounds of Comeback Kid DJs, electro geeks Mintendo and experimental pop duo Oscar + Martin will feature throughout Late Bit: End Game in a night exploring new musical territories, celebrating videogames, promoting dance and wishing a fond farewell to Game Masters.

Curated by ACMI, the Melbourne Winter Masterpieces exhibition, Game Masters, showcases the work of leading local and international videogame designers with over 125 playable games from the arcade era through to the latest console and mobile game technology. Over 30 game designers who have made a significant and ongoing impact in the field are profiled throughout the exhibition, including well-known international, independent and Australian game designers. The designers' work is explored through a combination of rare concept artwork, newly commissioned interviews and playable games, turning the gallery into an interactive playground for all ages and abilities.

Late Bit takes place on Thursday 27 September and Thursday 25 October from 6pm at ACMI, Federation Square. Admission to Late Bit is free and tickets to the Game Masters exhibition can be purchased by visiting gamemasters.acmi.net.au
