Prepare to fall head over heels for Disney in November as animation and fairy tales take over ACMI.

To celebrate the opening of the hotly-anticipated Australian exclusive exhibition, Dreams Come True: The Art of Disney's Classic Fairy Tales, ACMI has programmed a range of events to explore the last 70 years of fairy tales and animation at the Walt Disney Animation Studios.

For serious animation enthusiasts, we have the Disney Masterclass with Roy Conli and Glen Keane. The Masterclass will go "behind the scenes" to provide expert insight into the processes of this world-renowned animation house, which is responsible for bringing countless fairy tales and fantasies to the silver screen.

Roy Conli is the producer of Walt Disney Animation Studios' 50th full-length feature, Tangled, (scheduled for release in Australia in January 2011) and has produced and developed other Disney features including Treasure Planet (2002) and The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996).

Glen Keane is an Executive Producer, Animation Supervisor and Character Designer of Tangled and was a Directing Animator and Character Designer for The Little Mermaid (1989), and a Supervising Animator on Beauty and the Beast (1991).

Roy will also be our special international Desert Island Flicks guest when we host Castaway with Roy Conli.  Roy will no doubt provide an "animated" discussion of his five favourite films.

ACMI will host a series of free talks to coincide with Dreams Come True, examining the works showcased in the exhibition from a curatorial perspective.

Our special international guest, Lella Smith, Creative Director at the Walt Disney Animation Research Library and the original curator for Dreams Come True, will discuss both The Story of Dreams Come True and the role of the The Walt Disney Animation Research Library.

In From Fairytle to Film ACMI curator Emma McRae will also present her insights into the Dreams Come True exhibition, giving audiences a deeper understanding of the collection and what it can tell us about animation history.

Tickets are now on sale for the Masterclass and Roy Conli's Desert Island Flicks session, while tickets for the free talks will be available on the day of the event. For more information, click here.
