'Bushy' in Running to Stand Still
Running to Stand Still is one of nine digital stories that tell the real-life stories of vendors of The Big Issue.
Earlier this year ACMI's Digital Storytelling program partnered with the The Big Issue Arts Project to create a series of video accounts from disadvantaged people across Melbourne.
Meet Adrian Bush - or 'Bushy' as he's known - a veteran of homelessness, now living in Melbourne and a Big Issue vendor.

Bushy is a self-described "street soccer player, educator, instigator, perpetrator, chronic smoker and all-round joker."
His digital story, Running to Stand Still, recounts the afternoon he was invited to play street soccer in Fitzroy, and how he found friendship and a passion that has seen him never look back.
Bushy was selected to join the Australian Street Soccer Team, touring Cape Town and Copenhagen to play in the Homeless World Cup.
Back in Melbourne though, Bushy was still homeless.
With time and persistence he gained accommodation, the medications he needed to stay healthy and the pet dog he always wanted.
Bushy now teaches school groups about the experience of homelessness at The Big Issue offices in Melbourne. His digital story gives him a voice beyond these settings.
Bushy is one of many that the The Big Issue magazine assists through its vendor programs. His story and those of fellow vendors were premiered as part of the Beyond the Big Issue event held at ACMI on 25 June - the collection providing an honest, poignant and entertaining insight into the homeless community of Melbourne.
Watch out for all the stories available online soon.
