Make a Movie
Make a Movie

Who will be the next Australian to take Hollywood by storm? Could it be you?

You won't know till you've made your first film - don't know how? No problem-o!

They say the best way to learn is to do and with that in mind ACMI has created two fun school holiday programs for 10 to 14-year-olds that are guaranteed to engage the imagination. So if you'd rather be making movies than watching them, be sure to book in for one of these hands-on workshops, where you can learn to mix and mash images on the big screen, or write and direct a movie of your very own.

The VJ/DJ Workshop will teach you how to create and perform your own live audio-visual mash-up. In this day-long course, some of Melbourne's hottest sound and video artists will guide you through all the steps of shooting video footage, recording sounds, mixing and projecting live on screen so you too can become a 'real time' video artist!

If filmmaking is more your thing, the three-day Make a Movie workshop will give you the chance to write, direct, star in and edit your own movie. You'll learn the basics of filmmaking with a team of pros, from pitching an idea to scriptwriting and storyboarding.

You'll then move on to shooting and acting in your film, both on location and in the studio using green screen, before editing and adding final touches like special effects and a soundtrack. Invite some friends along to celebrate the red carpet premiere screening of your film and take home a copy on DVD so you can upload it to the web for the whole world to see!
