Pixar: 20 Years of Animation is now entering its second record-breaking week and is attracting fantastic press, with critics impressed by the mesmerising work of Pixar's talented artists, animators and storytellers.

Here's a few samples of what the press are saying:

About the exhibition:

"Pixar at ACMI is tremendous."

"...[it's] exciting, vital and filled with animated characters that kids young and old have come to love."
Jeff Makin, Herald Sun

"Sheer Fun"

"...reveals the craft behind the films, the vivid, painstaking drawings and sculptures made by Pixar artists showing the care and imagination integral to producing such original work."
Janine Burke, Australian Financial Review

About the characters:

"The show spotlights the extraordinary amount of artistic work that goes into conceiving and developing the characters that have populated such Pixar blockbusters as Toy Story 1&2, The Incredibles, A Bug's Life, Finding Nemo, Monsters, Inc., and Cars."

"Sketches, sculptures and elaborate models detail the evolution of each character, and it is all very engaging, visually delightful and comprehensive."
Jim Schembri, The Age

"It is a surprise to see early drafts of superhero Buzz Lightyear, and monster Sulley, and interesting to discover how many manifestations were canvassed for one of my favourite characters, The Incredibles' superhero costume designer, Edna Mode, that commanding combination of Linda Hunt, Diana Vreeland, Karl Lagerfeld and 007's Q."
Philippa Hawker, The Age

The films:

"In households with children, Toy Story and Finding Nemo are the sorts of film that put DVD players at risk of burnout."
Sandy George, The Australian

"Flawless style and wry humour not only captivated me but the silent awe-struck children sitting around me"
Janine Burke, Australian Financial Review

Toy Story Zoetrope:

"Most mesmerising is a zoetrope, an adaptation of a Victorian invention that gives static images the illusion of motion. It is a crowd-pleaser that viewers find compelling: on the day I visited, children and adults stayed and watched, not wanting to walk away, eager to observe the transformation more than once, and not quite able to believe that what looks like a sculpture - a kind of Toy Story 2 merry-go-round - could suddenly metamorphose into a giddy animated extravaganza, and back again."
Philippa Hawker, The Age
