Paradise lost and found
Adam Elliot is our first castaway in Desert Island Flicks
What do your top five films say about you?
Um, he's sick. My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with a girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.
Sometimes we never tire of hearing and seeing the same thing over and over, and over again. In a world where we are spoilt for choice, what if all the choices were taken away from you and you were banished to a deserted island, forced to streamline your prized possessions down to a handful? And on your little patch of paradise you were only granted five films?
We put the idea to the test in Desert Island Flicks. Promising a treasure trove of fascinating insights, join our celebrity castaways as they reveal the personal and passionate stories behind their top five flicks - the only films they could pack if they were banished to a desert island.
The first celebrity to be banished (metaphorically speaking of course!) when the program premieres on Tuesday 23 February will be Adam Elliot, the creative mastermind behind the magnificently moving animated films Harvie Krumpet and Mary and Max. Then it's time to spend an evening with one of Australia's most respected and loved film critics, David Stratton, on Friday 12 March. Find out which films David cannot bear to live without and why. What does the man who has literally seen everything really watch when he's not working?
Stay tuned for a who's who of personalities taking the desert island challenge and sharing their film passions with us in what will become a regular feature in the ACMI events calendar.
He'll keep callin' me...he'll keep callin' me until I come over. He'll make me feel guilty, this is...this is ridiculous, ok. I'll go. I'll go. I'll go. I'll go. I'll go. I'll go...God damnit ...Forget it...that's it.
