The Perfect Choice
Eddie Perfect
Writer, actor and comedian Eddie Perfect shares his top five flicks.
Currently playing the affable Mick Holland in the Channel 10 drama, Offspring, Eddie Perfect is well on his way to becoming a household name. When visiting ACMI in March however, it will be in a slightly different role than we're used to seeing him. He'll be playing the role of castaway to present his Top 5 Flicks - the only films he could pack if he were banished to a desert island.
If you've been following Perfect on Twitter of late, you'll know that he recently gave a big clue about what his top films might be, tweeting "Oi! I'll be at ACMI sharing my top 5 desert island flicks - a homage to my love of movie musicals, yo!"
Perfect is no stranger to the art of musicals. From his days playing a fishnet wearing Alexander Downer in Casey Bennetto's Keating! The Musical to writing and starring in his own works Angry Eddie, Drink Pepsi, Bitch, Shane Warne the Musical and his latest offering Misanthropology, Perfect is known for throwing his talents behind projects featuring an abundance of satire, political incorrectness and dark humour.
But trying to figure out the Top 5 musicals that have inspired him on the big screen is no easy task. After all, this is a guy who lined up film clips from Pantera and Rage Against the Machine alongside Nina Simone and The Beach Boys when he guest programmed Rage in 2009. So there's no telling whether The Sound of Music or The Rocky Horror Picture Show will be on his list.
Castaway with Eddie Perfect takes place at ACMI on Thursday 3 March at 7pm as part of the Desert Island Flicks program.
