super mario celebrates melbourne's game on high score
Our smash hit exhibition Game On closes this weekend after four blockbuster months, but no-one wants the good times to end, so we've extended the opening hours this Friday, Saturday and Sunday until 7pm.

The largest ever exhibition dedicated to the past, present and future of video games, Game On was originally curated by the Barbican in London, and since then has been exhibited in Helsinki, Chicago, Tel Aviv and Hong Kong.

Melbourne broke through the 100,000 visitor mark weeks ago, surpassing the London Barbican's attendance tally of 99,500 - and now, we are fast approaching the attendance high score of 127,000 set by a seven month run at Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry.

This weekend really is your last chance to join in the fun, and perhaps be a part of history as Melbourne smashes the Game On world attendance records!

It's game over once and for all this Sunday 13 July.

Meanwhile, congratulations are due to Gareth Jones, winner of our game movie pitch competition, with Pong - The Movie. Check out Gareth's winning pitch, and our two runners-up, here. Hollywood producers, take notes.

And then, for something completely different. ACMI's next major exhibition, the fascinating visual arts and cinema-focused Correspondences: Victor Erice & Abbas Kiarostami, opens Thursday 21 August. Stay tuned for more details.
