great western: stories from melbourne's suburban fringe
Western Chances drives youth storytelling with ACMI collaboration
Since 2005, ACMI was worked with Western Chances to provide students from the Western suburbs with the opportunity to tell their stories through the medium of Digital Storytelling.
Western Chances is one of dozens of community organisations with whom we have worked over the past year. The organisation assists talented and self-motivated young people in the western suburbs to realise their potential through the provision of scholarships and other related programs. It was founded by Terry Bracks in 2003.
The latest round of workshops have been completed, and the work of ten young people will screened next week at a special invitation-only event in ACMI Cinemas for their friends and family. We will then be featuring selected works made by Western Chances workshop participants for you to watch in our online video showcase.
In excess of 70 stories have now been produced through our collaboration with Western Chances. You can hear Terry Bracks and past workshop participant Esteban Guerrero talk about the project in this video - click here to watch
