We pay tribute to the amazing three-decade career of French actress Isabelle Huppert with a special 20-film retrospective and a companion photographic exhibition.

Presented in association with the Sofitel French Rendez-Vous 2007, Focus on Isabelle Huppert celebrates a powerhouse film career: from Huppert's star-defining role in Claude Goretta's The Lacemaker (1977) to her typically fearless performance as a woman exploring the darkest permutations of desire in Christophe Honore's provocative Ma Mère (2004).

The retrospective taking place at ACMI Cinemas includes features by French auteurs Claude Chabrol (four of the seven features Chabrol and Huppert have made together are represented in the season), Jean-Luc Godard, Maurice Pialat and Diane Kurys.

There are also as her collaborations with international filmmakers of distinctive vision that include Paul Cox, Michael Cimino, Hal Hartley, Michael Haneke, Olivier Dahan and Raoul Ruiz.

ACMI is also hosting an exhibition of photographic portraits of Huppert by distinguished international photographers, on display in the ACMI Lounge.

These stunning photographic portraits are currently touring the world as part of a tribute to Huppert initiated by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and have exhibited in New York, Paris, Berlin, London, Tokyo, Rome, Madrid, Sao Paolo and Beijing.

Focus on Isabelle Huppert screens from Friday 29 June to Tuesday 10 July 2007. Find out more here
