Marcus Graham in Josh Jarman
Marcus Graham talks showbiz and his role in the bittersweet comedy Josh Jarman.
With a cast of some of Australia's greatest talent, including Marcus Graham, Daniella Farinacci, Damien Richardson, Kestie Morassi and Kym Gyngell, the 2004 oz-indie flick Josh Jarman is a hilarious and bittersweet comedy about the disappointment, pain and frustrated passion that can be the reality of showbiz.
Marcus Graham plays the slightly nerdy and naive lead Josh Jarman, a struggling playwright who gets his first big break from a producer who promises him everything.
"When I produce, I produce," says his sleezeball producer (Kym Gyngell), "that means marketing campaigns, publicity promotions, the works." There's one catch though, the producer's daughter needs to be part of the picture.
From E-Street to Underbelly, Marcus Graham has been working in the Australian Film and Television industry for over 20 years. Hear what he has to say in a panel discussion following the screening of Josh Jarman this Saturday 21 February at 4pm as part of the Australian Perspectives program.
Joining him will be the film's director, Pip Mushin, and Oscar award-winning producer Eva Orner (Taxi to the Dark Side, Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson). The discussion will be hosted by Australian Film Critics Association Chair, Peter Krausz.
