A passion for fashion
Fashion blogging sensation BryanBoy
Fashion blogging smash Bryanboy opens Marc Jacobs on Film for Spring Fashion Week.
Ask Bryanboy for yourself what it's like being a muse to one of the world's most coveted designers when he introduces Marc Jacobs on Film.
Manila-based Bryanboy first came to notoriety for his enthusiastic approach to all things fashion on his blog, bryanboy.com. Consistent with the theory that bloggers are the new celebrities, he is now an international fashion commentator visiting festivals and fashion shows around the world.
His cyber-musings led to him being praised as "a cult read in fashion circles" (Style.com) and billed as an "internationally-loved fashion super-blogger" (New York Times). Marc Jacobs was so impressed that he commented, "I give you a 10 for effort... Love your passion for fashion, after all, where would designers be without enthusiasm like yours?"
Bryanboy's link with Jacobs moved beyond the blogosphere in February last year when Jacobs created the BB bag in his honour (pictured with Bryanboy) and featured it in his Fall 2008-09 collection. Sporting the BB bag during his Australian visit, Bryanboy will tell audiences how he came to inspire one of the world's greatest living designers to create an item in his name.
Bryanboy's own style is a no-holds-barred, androgynous look that has made a splash via his blog and at fashion and social events the world over. Recently, Holt Renfrew stores in Canada paid homage to Bryanboy's unique look with an 'I [heart] Bryanboy' window dressing.
Jacobs, a designer with a true affinity with the film and art worlds and a great proponent of film stars such as Sofia Coppola, Dakota Fanning and Chloe Sevigny, is rather fittingly acknowledged through film in this program. Through a delicately woven mix of six films, fashionistas can celebrate the career, creations and influences of one of fashion's greatest living visionaries.
ACMI's annual offering to Melbourne Spring Fashion Week audiences is hugely popular and devotees are encouraged to book early to avoid disappointment.
