ACMI Head of Film Programs Richard Sowada

The Melbourne International Film Festival allows audiences the opportunity to get up close and personal with the people behind the films - and what better way to do so than by sticking around post-screening for a Question and Answer session with filmmakers and industry professionals?

Add something extra to your Festival experience with one of these lively and informative Q&A sessions on at ACMI in the opening week of MIFF:

ACMI Head of Film Programs, Richard Sowada, will be taking the post-screening Q&A sessions for Long Weekend (Saturday) and Turkey Shoot (Sunday). Both films feature in ACMIs latest Focus On season: Focus On Ozploitation, co-curated by Richard and local director/writer Mark Hartley.

Also on Saturday, MIFF Premiere Fund documentary Celebrity: Dominick Dunne about the life and times of Vanity Fair special correspondent will be accompanied by a Q&A with the local film makers Kirsty de Garis and Tim Jolley, Minister Gavin Jennings and Festival Director, Richard Moore.

Monday night's screening of the documentary Dead On: The Life and Cinema of George A. Romero will be accompanied by a Q&A session with director Rusty Nails, a guest of the Festival, and Richard Moore.

And on Wednesday evening, don't miss your chance to attend a Q&A with experimental filmmaker Guy Sherwin, after the screening of his work Guy Shermin: Cinema of Perception, Cinema of Performance. This Q&A will be led by Joel Stern, one of Australia's foremost sound art practitioners.
