Cate Blanchett and Premier John Brumby
John Brumby and Cate Blanchett launch Screen Worlds

Come to ACMI on Sunday for one very big day out.

Cate did it. So did Hugo, Geoffrey and Eddie. As did the lovely chick that plays Donna on Neighbours (a shout-out to our friend Margot Robbie). "What did they do?" we hear you ask. Well, if you happened to be hanging around Fed Square yesterday you would've seen Cate, Hugo, Geoffrey, Eddie, Margot and a veritable who's who of Australian screen walk the red carpet to the launch of our stunning new exhibition Screen Worlds: The Story of Film, Television & Digital Culture.

A long time in the making (around four years actually), Screen Worlds tells the creative and ever-changing story of the moving image through interactive displays, hundreds of hours of video clips and memorabilia from some of the country's favourite films and television shows. And to celebrate the exhibition's launch, we're opening our doors to everyone on Sunday 20 September for our biggest bash yet.

Between 10am and 6pm you're invited to come to ACMI's Open Day and get a taste of everything we have to offer (and, best of all, you won't have to pay a cent). Check out some 'Films from the Vault' in the ACMI Cinemas including a tribute to Oscar-winning animator Adam Elliot. Be transported to the fantastical world of Narnia in Studio 1 with our 'Make Your Own Chronicles of Narnia' green screen experience. Bring out your inner artist and create a digital animation Len Lye-style in Studio 2. Shake hands with B1 and B2 (from ABC TV's Bananas in Pyjamas, duh). And, of course, be one of the first in town to fully experience the magic of the moving image at Screen Worlds.

It's a fun free-for-all at ACMI this Sunday!
