snow way, man!
The Snowman
Free films for kids? We kid you not!
Got some hard-to-please ankle biters on your hands these school holidays? Looking for some entertainment for them that won't cost the earth? You can't go wrong with our popular Animated Kids' Classics program, screening most mornings throughout the school holidays. It's fun, engaging, and best of all, it's free!
This week until Christmas Eve get the kids into the festive spirit with two all-time favourites. Dianne Jackson's The Snowman recreates author Raymond Briggs' winter story about a young boy who builds a snowman that comes to life, and takes the boy on an unforgettable adventure to meet Father Christmas. The Snowman screens with Burny Mattinson's Mickey's Christmas Carol, Disney's famous adaptation of Charles Dickens' iconic tale featuring everyone's favourite animated mouse.
Then, from Boxing Day, follow the adventures of the little Mole and his friends in The Mole - Collection 1 (screening through to Sat 3 Jan) and The Mole - Collection 2 (screening from Mon 19 Jan to Wed 28 Jan). Commissioned to make an educational film for children in the 1950s, Czechoslovakian animator Zdenek Miler was inspired to create the character of the little Mole when he stumbled over a mole hill during a walk. In total, Miler created approximately fifty films with the little Mole as his protagonist, and his first film, How the Mole Got His Trousers (screening in Collection 1), went on to win an award at the Venice Film Festival.
