All over Melbourne our institutions for art and history are opening up and putting their wares on display for free on 24 & 25 July. It's your chance to get out of the house and soak up some art and culture.

A weekend of fun for all ages at ACMI, full of surprises, special activities, free entertainment and exhibitions for the whole family. And there's lots more to do at other Melbourne cultural institutions: the State Library of Victoria, the Arts Centre, Melbourne Museum, Immigration Museum and National Gallery of Victoria.

Highlights

Victoria's Favourite Things

We want Victorians from all over our state, and from all walks of life, to tell us what their favourite thing is. It might be your favourite person or place. Or, it might be an object - and if it is not too big, you could bring it in to show us! We will record your contributions on camera, and use the footage to create film of Victoria's favourite things. Once it is completed, participants will be invited back to ACMI to check out the finished work on permanent exhibition in the Memory Grid.

Saturday 24 July 10am-4pm FREE

The Moving Family Portrait

Bring your family to ACMI to have your portrait taken. Families of all shapes and sizes will then become part of a mammoth moving image mosaic to be shown at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image.
