ABBA - The Movie
Essentially a concert film detailing ABBA's mega successful tour of Australia in 1977, director and co-writer Lasse Hallström (My Life as a Dog) tries to inject a narrative through the film, chronicling the plight of an incompetent radio DJ trying desperately to secure an interview with the elusive Swedish super-group.
But ultimately it's all about the music, featuring concert performances of the band doing their extensive catalogue of smash hits, including Dancing Queen, Name of the Game, When I Kissed the Teacher and countless other memorable tunes.
With Robert Hughes, Stig Anderson and ABBA.
Imported 35mm print.
"... a handsomely-produced, smooth, fast and wittily-edited musical entertainment that, in Lasse Hallstrom's script and direction, is both a bit of a documentary of Swedish group ABBA's Australian tour and of its four personable performers background and work methods" Variety
