Fever
Everyone knows that the wife of Sergeant Jack Welles (Bill Hunter), the tainted boss cop of a grimy outback mining town, is having an affair with a local toy-boy (Gary Sweet). Everyone, that is, except for Welles, who's too busy trying to stash a windfall of drug money until he catches his wife and lover in the sweaty act.
Fever was one of the best and most underrated of a pack of neo-noir thrillers that came out of Australia's so-called '10BA' period. It also features one Hunter's most fleshed out 'hard man' support roles.
Presented in collaboration with the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia.
