Morning of the Earth
Filmed over three locations - Australia, Indonesia and Hawaii - Morning of the Earth announces itself as a fantasy of surfers playing in Mother Nature's oceans.

Featuring some of the world's best known surfers of the time, each sequence is edited to the duration of a song, setting a precedent that many surf movies would later follow.

Groundbreaking in its own right, the film's score features 70s luminaries Tamam Shud, John J. Francis, Brian Cadd and G. Wayne Thomas, along with surfers Gerry Lopez, Michael Peterson, Mark Warren, Nat Young and more.

Morning of the Earth was a phenomenal box office success for director Alby Falzon and also introduced audiences to the concept of 'Soul Surfing', adding to the film's romantic mythology revolving around the surfing lifestyle in a time of great social and filmic change.

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with director Alby Falzon (via phone), Jake Wilson (The Age), Deb Verhoeven (RMIT), and host Peter Krausz, Chair of the Australian Film Criitics Association.
