On Borrowed Time
David Bradbury's spirited documentary traces the film career of a true Australian iconoclast - director Paul Cox.
A bona fide independent, Dutch-born Cox bought a decidedly European sensibility to Australian cinema. His film career spans over four decades and with twenty two feature films under his belt, his extensive body of work is unmatched by any director in Australia.
Bradbury, no film making slouch himself, focuses on Cox during a tumultuous year in his life. A cancer scare forces the veteran director to confront his mortality, as his friends and filmmaking fraternity rally around in support.
Cox's musings on his life and film career forms a potent portrait of a man whose life and art are inseparable.
Featuring interviews with Wendy Hughes, Chris Haywood, Bob Ellis and David Stratton, and covering seminal works such as the AFI award winning My First Wife (1984), Man of Flowers (I1983), Lonely Hearts (1982) and Innocence (2000).
The screening on Saturday 7 April will be introduced by director David Bradbury, followed by a Q&A.
