The Hit
Ex-gangster, Willie Parker (Terence Stamp) has betrayed his former colleagues and now lives in Spain to hide from the vengeance of retired Australian crime boss Harry (Bill Hunter).
Stephen Frears' Out of the Past-inspired film is one of the great 1980s Brit noirs, with Hunter as an effective, but shadowy presence behind killers John Hurt and Tim Roth.
The film also features a soundtrack with music by Eric Clapton and virtuoso flamenco guitarist Paco de Lucía.
Hunter's friendship with Stamp would lead to their re-teaming a decade later in the early 1990s hit The Adventures of Priscilla: Queen of the Desert.
Presented in collaboration with the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia.
