The Year of Living Dangerously
Set in Indonesia during the 1965 coup against President Sukarno, The Year of Living Dangerously stars Mel Gibson as Guy Hamilton, an Australian wire-service reporter covering the scene. Keeping him grounded is photographer Billy Kwan (played as a male by diminutive actress Linda Hunt, NCIS: Los Angeles). As Jakarta descends into disarray, Guy falls for the British Attaché Jill Bryant (Sigourney Weaver).
Linda Hunt not only took out the best supporting actress AFI Award for her role, that year she collected many more honours, including an Academy Award.
