Cape Fear
Scorsese's remake of the 1962 classic starring Robert Mitchum and Gregory Peck is an unnerving thriller played out by Robert De Niro and Nick Nolte.

Sam Bowden (Nolte) is a troubled man, full of flaws in the throws of trying to save his dysfunctional family with wife Leigh (Jessica Lang) and daughter Danielle (Juliette Lewis). However all their lives take a much graver turn when Max Cady (De Niro) is released from 14 years in prison and is out to seek revenge on his laywer (Bowden) for what he believes was a poor defence.

When Bowden reaches breaking point he seeks help (in a nice touch from Scorsese) from Lieutenant Elgart (Robert Mitchum) and a lawyer (Gregory Peck).

Displaying his unquestionable talent as a director, Scorsese and his cast gained a number of nominations for Cape Fear including a slew of Oscars, BAFTAs, Golden Globes, and a nomination for Best Film at the 1992 Berlin Film Festival.
