Goodfellas
Scorsese's masterful slow burn epic is based on the true story of gangster turned state witness, Henry Hill (Ray Liotta), charting his rise within the hierarchy of the mob and subsequent fall from grace.

De Niro takes charge as Jimmy Conway, the man with the know-how to make himself and his cohorts, Tommy De Vito (Jo Pesci) and Hill rich, powerful and untouchable. However in the grand tradition of mob films, lives spiral out of control, stakes are raised and in the end it is only the truly cunning that survive.

Nominated for numerous awards (including a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for Pesci), Goodfellas has been continually lauded by critics as one of the essential films of its decade and was included in the American Film Institutes top 100 films of all time.
