The Imaginings of Shelly Love
Featuring The Forgotten Circus
With his last breath, The Ringmaster breathes life back into his circus. Suspended somewhere between worlds, The Forgotten Circus perform to no audience.
Mixing circus, physical theatre and dance, The Forgotten Circus is one of the films screening in this retrospective of the work of Shelly Love.
Love was commissioned by British circus arts school Circus Space to devise and direct the film using their students as performers. Lush and atmospheric, The Forgotten Circus creates a surreal world that floods the imagination and seeps under the skin.
An award-winning artist and director, Shelly Love originally trained as a dancer, and worked as a performer and choreographer before turning to filmmaking.
Her work has been described as 'otherworldy, 'surprising', 'magical', 'beautifully dark' and 'uniquely choreographic'.
