Mike Mills' semi-autobiographical romantic drama teams Christopher Plummer and Ewan McGregor as a father and son, dealing in different ways with the vagaries of unexpected love.
Widowed Hal (Plummer) is in his early seventies when, after a period of due deference to the memory of his dearly departed wife, he resolves to come out of the closet. While Hal embraces a renewed vigour for life and love - notwithstanding an unsettling medical diagnosis - his thirty-something son Oliver (McGregor) continues to struggle with the notion of commitment.
When Oliver meets Anna (the delightful Melanie Laurent) at a party, his long-nurtured emotional defences slowly begin to give way.
"Mike Mills' thoroughly beguiling second feature is as playful and amusing as it is bittersweet.this deeply romantic comedy will have you leaving the cinema with a sprightly spring in your step!" - Sydney Film Festival
