Cheri
Set in the luxurious demi-monde of Belle Epoque Paris, Cheri recounts the love affair between the retired courtesan Lea (Michelle Pfeiffer) and Cheri (Rupert Friend), the pampered son of a former rival, Madame Peloux (Kathy Bates, in superb form).
Pfeiffer reunites with her Dangerous Liaisons director, Stephen Frears, and screenwriter Christopher Hampton, in this handsomely staged adaptation drawn from the stories of Colette, the scandalous French novelist who penned the novel Gigi (famously, if somewhat inexplicably, turned into a G-rated Hollywood musical starring Leslie Caron in 1958).
