A Dangerous Method
When the challenging case of a young Russian woman suffering from 'hysteria' is brought before him, Carl Jung (Michael Fassbender) turns to his mentor, Sigmund Freud (Viggo Mortensen) to test the limits and explore the permutations of Freud's 'talking cure'.
Jung's patient, Sabina Spielrein (Keira Knightley), not only recovers as a result of the pioneering work by the psychoanalysts, she becomes a catalyst for the diverging paths the two men's temperaments lead them to.
Brimming with provocative ideas, the film is both visually ravishing and intellectually invigorating. Director David Cronenberg is well served by an excellent cast who deliver impeccable performances.
The wonderful evocation of turn-of-the-century Vienna and the quality of light achieved in scenes shot on location in Austria and Germany also make A Dangerous Method a wonderful cinematic experience.
"Keira Knightley.gives a quite astonishing performance.she's amazing" - David Stratton, At the Movies
