Farewell
Carion's impeccably crafted Cold War espionage thriller, based on true events that contributed to the dissolution of the Soviet Union, is also a compelling human drama.
The director of Joyeux Noel (2006 Seniors' Cinema) elicits note-perfect performances from the film's two charismatic leads: Emir Kusturica as Colonel Grigoriev, a disenchanted KGB agent able to exploit his insider status, and Guillaume Canet (Joyeux Noel) as Pierre, the Moscow-based French engineer Grigoriev recruits to their mutually perilous cause.
"Riveting. A richly human and well-acted espionage tale. [Hits] the same emotional marks as German Oscar hit The Lives of Others" Screen International
