Footnote (Hearat shulayim)
Eliezer (Shlomo Bar Aba) and Uriel (Lior Ashkenazi) Shkolnik are life-long academics who share an uneasy professional rapport and an even more strained familial bond.
When Eliezer, Uriel's father, is contacted to be told he will be awarded the country's most prestigious accolade, the Israel Prize, the intellectual rivalry between the two men reaches a point of (darkly funny) crisis.
Joseph Cedar's astutely observed comedy-drama received the Best Screenplay award at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival and was Israel's 2012 nominee for the Best Foreign Language Film Academy Award.
"Both actors are tremendous: [Shlomo] Bar Aba has the air of a near-boiling teakettle...while [Lior] Ashkenazi's Uriel looks on with a mixture of bafflement, exhaustion and reluctant affection" - Salon.com
