Peaceful Times
It's the late '60s and Dieter, Irene and their three young children are adjusting to a shiny new life in West Germany without the threat of Stasi interrogators in their midst.
Dieter takes to his new home - and the benefits of access to 'emancipated' women and luxuries like imported cigarettes - like a duck to water, but Irene remains homesick for East Germany - and when Russian tanks roll into Czechoslovakia, old fear gets the better of her.
In Vollmar's delightfully tart comic drama, it falls to Wasa and Ute, the couple's plucky and emotionally resourceful daughters, to keep their high-strung parents' neuroses in check.
"A deliciously funny film. Strongly recommended" 20/20 Filmsight
