The Red Shoes
Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger's magnificent 1948 screen classic tells the story of a talented dancer, Vicky Page (Moira Shearer), who is initiated into the mysteries of a touring Russian ballet company and falls in love with its talented composer.

Australian-born Royal Ballet star Sir Robert Helpmann danced in the role of Ivan and was also the film's choreographer, making a key contribution to the unparalleled artistry of the film's iconic fantasy-ballet sequence.

Jack Cardiff's sublime Technicolor cinematography has been vividly restored in a new 35mm print struck following the film's digital restoration by the UCLA Film & Television Archive with support from the British Film Institute and The Film Foundation.

"Passion drives every extraordinary moment of The Red Shoes and it's what makes the film's glorious Technicolor images so forceful and moving" Martin Scorsese, Founder and Chair, The Film Foundation
